Our History

TAWKPIN Development Agency began in 1995 on the Westbank of New Orleans. TAWKPIN is a family-centered entity both in name and in philosophy. Since our inception, we have provided access to meaningful programming in a nurturing environment aimed at developing each participant's raw talents into an effective toolkit for success.
Our Team

Dr. Karen Brooks Favorite
Founder
Dr. Karen Brooks Favorite earned a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Arts at Xavier University of Louisiana. Dr. Favorite has various certifications including certification in Educational Leadership and a Reading Specialist endorsement. She earned a Master of Education in Educational Administration and Supervision from Our Lady of Holy Cross in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Favorite matriculated at the University of New Orleans as well and earned a Ph.D. in Educational Administration.
Dr. Favorite has served the students and the community of the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan area as a musician, educator, and businesswoman. Dr. Favorite has gained many awards and has performed in various venues beginning at the age of five. She has also served students in multiple school systems and educational settings. Dr. Favorite has served as a music teacher in Orleans Parish Schools; Inaugural Assistant Principal of the Pierre A. Capdau-UNO Charter School; Teacher and Administrative Team Leader at St Joseph the Worker Catholic School; an adjunct professor at the University of New Orleans and Our Lady of Holy Cross; Teacher, Title I Facilitator, Professional Development Resource Teacher, the first appointed Academic Dean of the school district, and the Principal of Lincoln Elementary School for the Arts, and currently, she serves as the Executive Director of Performance Management with Jefferson Parish Schools. Dr. Favorite is the Proprietor of TAWKPIN Development Agency and is married to Preston J. Favorite. They have five children.

Tremaine Knighten-Riley
Director of Operations
Tremaine Knighten-Riley is a graduate of Tuskegee University with both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Art in Psychology. She served as an educator within the Archdiocese of New Orleans school system.
Tremaine has taught numerous courses including: Introduction to Health Occupations, Medical Terminology, Dynamics of Effective Study, U.S. History, World History, Personal Finance, Psychology Dual-Enrollment through Southeastern University, and ACT Prep.
In addition to teaching, Tremaine works as an Event Coordinator with Black Cat Productions and serves as the Program Director for the Leona Tate Foundation for Change, Inc. Tremaine is married to Anthony Riley and together they reside in New Orleans, LA.
